Swing for a Cause: Recap of our Foundation’s Golf Day 2023
September 2, 2023
On the vibrant morning of September 1st, 2023, our Foundation’s annual Golf Day unfolded with enthusiasm and purpose. Held at the picturesque Macarthur Grange Country Club, this event brought together avid golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters to raise funds for our charitable initiatives. As the sun illuminated the fairways, our community came together in a spirit of camaraderie and philanthropy, making this day a memorable success.
The Day’s Highlights:
Warm Welcome, Registration& Breakfast: Participants were greeted with warm smiles and a sense of anticipation as they arrived at the golf course. Registration desks buzzed with activity, ensuring a smooth start to the day. All enjoyed with some bacon and egg rolls and delicious coffee provided by Jenny & Johns Coffee Magic
Shotgun Start: The tournament kicked off with a shotgun start, filling the air with excitement and competitiveness. Golfers took to the course, showcasing their skills and camaraderie amid the lush greenery.
On-Course Activities: Throughout the course, golfers encountered engaging on-course activities and challenges, adding a delightful twist to the traditional game. From closest-to-the-pin contests to the longest marshmallow drive challenge, every swing contributed to the cause. The Drummond Golf Taren Point Putting Competition was also a hit!
Sponsorship Support: We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our sponsors whose generous contributions made this event possible. Their banners and displays added a vibrant touch to the course, showcasing their commitment to our Foundation’s mission.
Networking and Fellowship: Beyond the swings and putts, Golf Day provided a platform for networking and fellowship. Participants shared stories, forged new connections, and strengthened existing partnerships, fostering a sense of community spirit.
Awards Ceremony and Lunch: The day culminated in an awards ceremony and lunch. Participants gathered to celebrate achievements, applaud outstanding performances (and some not so great ones!), and reflect on the collective impact of their contributions. Julie Ward, our health advisor also gave the participants a great seminar on Scott’s cancer journey and the signs and symptoms of Bowel Cancer.
Auction and Prize Giveaways: A silent auction and raffle giveaways were also undertaken by Steve from Wicked Memorabilia and Scott “Mr Sold” Gibbons who ran a live auction for some special memorabilia items.
Impact and Gratitude
The success of Golf Day 2023 goes beyond the scores on the leaderboard. It represents a shared commitment to making a positive difference in our community. Thanks to the generosity of our participants, sponsors, and volunteers, we raised $18,000 towards our Foundation’s initiatives, empowering us to continue our impactful work in Bowel Cancer Awareness, Support & Research.
We extend our sincerest gratitude to everyone who played a part in making this day a triumph. Your support fuels our mission, bringing hope and opportunities to those in need.
Looking Ahead
As we reflect on the joyous moments and shared camaraderie of Golf Day 2023, we also look ahead with optimism. Our Foundation remains dedicated to creating lasting change, and your continued support ensures that together, we can achieve remarkable milestones.
